EDWARD W. KUDREIKO Obituary

September 22, 1924 - February 4, 2007. Age 82. This week Dearborn, Michigan lost an outstanding Citizen. Edward Kudreiko, a long time resident of Dearborn, Michigan, died in West End, North Carolina on February 4, 2007. Mr. Kudreiko was a teacher at Dearborn High School and then a counselor until he retired in 1986. He also was a referee for high school basketball and football games in the area for many years. In his earlier days as an athlete he played varsity football for Hamtramck High School. He received Bachelor of Art and Masters Degrees from the University of Michigan. Ed did his own restoration on a beautiful old home on Geneva Court Street just south of Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. In 1980 his home was given a Dearborn Board of Realtors award. It is still a Dearborn treasure. Ed had many interests and hobbies. High on his list was attending the University of Michigan football games where he enjoyed tailgating for many seasons. He also restored antique furniture, built beautiful clocks, and made great Michigan apple pies. He spent many hours and years on the restoration of his antique 1928 4 door Franklin Sedan. Ed and his wife Kay retired to West End, North Carolina for the mild weather and golf, where they built a lovely home on the 14th hole of the Seven Lakes Country Club golf course. They enjoyed 21 years there making many new friends in the community, many of whom incidentally are from Michigan and the mid-west. The most recent joy in Ed's life was the arrival of his granddaughter, Emily Esther Kudreiko. She is the child of Ed's only son Michael and wife Susan. Ed's immediate family and step-children Barry, Jim, Susan, and grandchildren will miss his strong spirit and his dedication to enjoying life to the fullest. Funeral Service will be held on February 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI (313) 561-1500. Edward Kudreiko was a World War II Veteran in the Pacific Campaign. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Mt. Kelly Cemetery on Cherry Hill and Outer Drive in Dearborn. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines, West End, North Carolina on February 24, 2007. For Ed we offer one last "Go Blue"!
