Jack Dunworth, Dearborn swimming coach. Services for Jack Dunworth, a former Michigan high school swimming coach of the year, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave., Dearborn. Mr. Dunworth, 57, died Thursday at Grace Hospital in Detroit. Surviving are his wife, Pamela; three sons, Kevin, Shannon and Dru, and a sister. A lifelong resident of Dearborn, Mr. Dunworth graduated from Fordson High School in 1949, Eastern Michigan University in 1955 and the University of Michigan in 1959. He worked for the Dearborn Board of Education for 32 years and Dearborn Recreation Department for 36 years. Mr. Dunworth was named coach of the year by other Michigan swimming coaches in 1974 and 1976. He coached Dearborn High School to Class A swimming championships in 1971, 1972, 1974 and 1976 and to Class B titles in 1986 and 1987. He coached Michigan state champions at the U.S. Amateur Athletic Union meets in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983. In 1987, he received the Phillips Petroleum Award for outstanding contributions to U.S. swimming.  A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home under the auspices of Architect University Lodge No. 569, F. & A.M. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
