WALKER LILLIAN HELEN, 96, of St. Joseph, Michigan, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 994 Paw Paw Rd., Holland, MI 49423. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Those wishing to share a memory of Lillian online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Lillian was born November 2, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan to Edward & Mary Galbraith. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1935 and Eastern Michigan University in 1939 where she met her future husband. She married Tex Walker on December 24, 1942 in North Carolina while Tex was in the Navy during WWII. They had a son, Gary, in 1944. After the war she and Tex started teaching careers in Dearborn, Michigan. In 1964 she obtained a Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan and became a counselor at Dearborn High School. They both retired in 1975 and moved to Elk Lake near Elk Rapids, MI. In 1996 they moved to Holland, MI and lived there until her husband's passing in 2006. She moved to Caretel Inns of Lakeland in 2008 to be near her son. Lillian's favorite sports were tennis and basketball. She also did a lot of craft work, reading, and a world traveler. She went back to school at age 70 and took classes on using computers. Lillian is survived by her son Gary (Nancy) Walker of St. Joseph, MI. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Tex Walker, her parents Edward and Mary Galbraith and her brothers Edward, Arthur, Clarence, and Donald.
