Everyone who knew Roger liked him…..he was a nice guy and he had a great laugh. Roger and I were in Drafting I through Drafting VI together at DHS (taught by Gerald Kurtz)……there were only a handful of us that stuck it out through all six terms of Drafting. Roger won the “Draftsman of the Year” award in Drafting VI during our last semester at DHS.

2/24/2012: the following is a recent Facebook message exchange I had with Roger's wife, Jill (Baker) Ivey concering Roger:
Jill,
If you don't mind my asking, what happened to Roger? I know that he passed away a while ago but I only learned of this within the last couple of years. Roger and I knew each other in high school....there were only a handful of us who took all six drafting courses at DHS (Drafting I through Drafting VI).....Roger and I were among that handful....and at the end of our senior year both Roger and I were nominated to become "Draftsman of the Year".....it was Roger who became our Draftsman of the Year....everyone who knew your husband liked him very much.
Stan
HI Stan,
I don't mind telling you. Roger had a disease called Wegeners Granulomatosis. It is an auto-immune disease of the vascular system. It is very difficult to diagnose due to the random symptoms. by the time he was diagnosed he was far too ill for treatment. The effects can be devastating if he had survived. They include loss of limbs, dialysis etc. I still have all of his high school drafting projects.. Thank you for the kind words. I do still miss him. It was 4 years ago last week. we had been married just short of 34 years.
