Desmond B Irwin VIEW PROFILE

Desmond B Irwin

Our classmate, Desmond Irwin, passed away on June 3, 2018.  His son, Stephen, indicated that he did not believe there was an official obituary published for his dad.  Information source:  Diane Hagelthorn [DHS '75]

Desmond Irwin's profession was a machinist, and mechanical, although we all thought of him as a jack of all trades.  His wife Ingrid (my mother), had passed away in 2016 due to a heart attack.  My father Desmond passed away on June 3 of 2018.  He had been weakened from his progressive multiple sclerosis, which he was diagnosed in 2004, and in 2018 he caught pneumonia, and passed away shortly after being discharged from the hospital.  I will never really get over the untimely loss of my parents, and will always love them.  I'm sorry for the news to his class, and anyone that knew him.  However he is survived by his 3 children now adults, the oldest Vincent, I'm the middle Stephen, and daughter Emily.  Desmond spent most of his life exploring and enjoying life in Arizona, where he decided to move and call home after high school, and where his family still lives today.  If there is any other information that would be helpful, please let me know.  -Steve Irwin.

I'm sorry to hear that Des is no longer with us, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

The Irwins lived across the street from us in Dearborn.  He and my brother Randy (now deceased 2015) were good friends.  I remember Des sometimes helping me with my homework, oooh, I had such a crush on him!

I also remember the '65 blue Mustang that he drove, often giving us rides home from school, we thought we were so cool :-)

As the song goes "those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end..."
